Cllr Candida Terry picked up Peacehaven Carnival after 8 years in oblivion in May 2004. Peacehaven Town Council has supported the project throughout. All the funding has been raised by the Carnival group itself. The aim is to promote the community spirit of the town by positive enjoyment.
Local enthusiasm has been staggering, making the tireless work to stage it infinitely worthwhile. Local businesses large and small, have given their support, and the event attracts sponsorship from companies outside Peacehaven. In addition an annual car boot sale on the Dell helps raise funds. The Carnival is a fun packed day for all the family. With a parade along the South Coast Road led by the Newhaven Marching Band followed by the Carnival Queen, and Princesses, local clubs, groups and schools. The Mayor joins the parade and then opens the Carnival.
The event is held at the Joff Field behind the Meridian Centre with stalls, demonstrations a bonny baby competition and much more.
