Parks, Playgrounds and Amenity Land
The Town Council own, manage and maintain several children’s playgrounds, floodlight tennis courts, County standard bowling greens, open informal recreational land and The Dell which is used for car boot sales, funfairs and commercial shows.
Planning and Highways
The Council make recommendations on around 150 planning applications a year, ranging from small extensions to major building developments. Peacehaven Town Council have been instrumental in leading campaigns to stop over or unwanted development in the Town, most notably in their successful court appearances to stop 500 houses built in The Valley and preventing Southern Water from building a 25 acre sewage works on the cliffs.
Community Buildings
The Town Council operate three buildings that are used for a variety of activities. The biggest is Community House in the Meridian Centre which has a large main hall used for markets, parties, large meetings, theatre and cinema. It also has a number of smaller rooms used for meetings, etc. The other buildings are at the Sports Park and Meridian School; these are used by playgroups, local Community groups and clubs.
Sports and Arts Development and Grant Aid
Numerous projects have been undertaken with the local schools to increase their understanding and appreciation of the arts. Projects have included working with professional artists and musicians, free live theatre performances and drama presentations. The Council also grant aid a number of local groups to ensure that they can continue to give a good service in the Town.
